World Cultures (Grade 12)

This course examines the nature of culture and how cultural identities are acquired and maintained.

Unit 1: Understanding Culture

Students examine the meaning of culture and explore the ways culture shapes beliefs, values, and behaviour.

Unit 2: Cultural Identity

Students investigate how cultural identity is formed and maintained in different societies and communities.

Unit 3: Cultural Change

Students explore how cultures change over time in response to internal and external influences.

Unit 4: Global Cultural Interactions

Students analyze how cultures interact globally through migration, trade, media, and communication.

Unit 5: Cultural Challenges

Students investigate issues such as cultural conflict, preservation, appropriation, and globalization.

Unit 6: Culminating Cultural Investigation

Students complete a final inquiry project examining a cultural issue, tradition, or global cultural interaction.
