Visual Arts (Grade 10)

This course enables students to develop their skills in producing and presenting art by introducing them to new ideas, materials, and processes for artistic exploration and experimentation. Students will apply the elements and principles of design when exploring the creative process.

Unit 1: Elements and Principles of Design

Students review and expand their understanding of visual design concepts through creative activities.

Unit 2: Drawing and Representation

Students develop drawing techniques and explore observation and representation in visual art.

Unit 3: Painting and Colour Exploration

Students investigate painting techniques and the use of colour in artistic expression.

Unit 4: Sculpture and Mixed Media

Students experiment with three-dimensional materials and mixed media techniques.

Unit 5: Art and Cultural Perspectives

Students examine how art reflects culture, identity, and historical context.

Unit 6: Culminating Art Portfolio

Students create a portfolio demonstrating their artistic growth and understanding of visual art concepts.
