Description

This course enables students to broaden their understanding of relationships and extend their problem-solving and algebraic skills through investigation, the effective use of technology, and abstract reasoning. Students will explore quadratic relations and their applications, solve and apply linear systems, verify properties of geometric figures using analytic geometry, and investigate trigonometric relationships.

Unit 1: Quadratic Relations

Students explore quadratic expressions, equations, and graphs and investigate their real-world applications.

Unit 2: Systems of Linear Equations

Students solve systems of equations using algebraic and graphical methods and apply them to real-world situations.

Unit 3: Analytic Geometry

Students examine geometric relationships using coordinate geometry and algebraic reasoning.

Unit 4: Trigonometry

Students investigate trigonometric ratios and apply them to solve problems involving right triangles.

Unit 5: Mathematical Modelling and Problem Solving

Students apply mathematical reasoning to model real-world problems.

Unit 6: Culminating Mathematical Investigation

Students complete a final investigation applying multiple mathematical concepts learned throughout the course.
