Physics (Grade 11 – University Preparation)

This course develops students' understanding of the basic concepts of physics. Students will explore kinematics, with an emphasis on linear motion; different kinds of forces; energy transformations; and the properties of mechanical waves and sound.

Unit 1: Kinematics

Students explore motion in one dimension and analyze velocity, acceleration, and displacement.

Unit 2: Forces and Dynamics

Students examine the forces that affect motion and apply Newton's laws.

Unit 3: Energy and Work

Students investigate energy transformations and the concepts of work and power.

Unit 4: Mechanical Waves and Sound

Students explore wave behaviour and the properties of sound.

Unit 5: Applications of Physics

Students examine how physics concepts apply to technology and everyday life.

Unit 6: Culminating Physics Investigation

Students complete a final investigation demonstrating their understanding of physics principles.
