Physics (Grade 11 – College Preparation)

This course develops students' understanding of the basic concepts of physics. Students will explore kinematics, with an emphasis on linear motion; different kinds of forces; energy transformations; and the properties of mechanical waves and sound. They will investigate these topics through hands-on activities and practical applications.

Unit 1: Motion and Kinematics

Students investigate motion in everyday contexts and analyze displacement, velocity, and acceleration.

Unit 2: Forces and Motion

Students explore the effects of forces on motion and apply Newton's laws to real-world situations.

Unit 3: Work, Energy, and Power

Students investigate energy transformations and the concepts of work and power.

Unit 4: Mechanical Waves and Sound

Students examine how waves transfer energy and explore the properties of sound.

Unit 5: Applications of Physics

Students explore how physics concepts are used in technology and everyday life.

Unit 6: Culminating Physics Project

Students complete a final investigation demonstrating their understanding of physics principles.
