The Grade 8 Language course strengthens students' ability to read critically, write clearly, and communicate effectively in a variety of contexts. Students explore a range of literary and informational texts while developing analytical skills and deeper comprehension. Students learn to construct well-supported arguments, organize ideas effectively, and communicate thoughtfully through both written and oral forms.

Unit 1: Reading Development

Students analyze a variety of texts including novels, short stories, informational texts, and media. They explore themes, author perspectives, literary techniques, and supporting evidence.

Unit 2: Writing Development

Students produce structured written work including narratives, reports, persuasive essays, and analytical responses. Emphasis is placed on organization, clarity, and supporting ideas with evidence.

Unit 3: Oral Communication

Students participate in discussions, presentations, and collaborative learning activities that encourage respectful dialogue and thoughtful expression.

Unit 4: Media Literacy

Students examine how media messages influence audiences and evaluate how images, language, and sound are used to communicate ideas.
