Mathematics

The Grade 5 Mathematics course builds deeper understanding of number relationships and mathematical reasoning. Students explore fractions, decimals, multiplication and division strategies, geometry, measurement, and data analysis while applying mathematical thinking to real-world situations.

Unit 1: Number Sense and Numeration

Students strengthen understanding of fractions and decimals while applying multiplication and division strategies to solve problems.

Unit 2: Patterns and Algebraic Thinking

Students explore patterns and relationships between numbers while beginning to represent mathematical ideas using simple algebraic expressions.

Unit 3: Measurement

Students investigate measurement concepts such as area, perimeter, volume, and capacity using appropriate units and tools.

Unit 4: Geometry and Spatial Sense

Students analyze properties of two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional figures while exploring spatial reasoning.

Unit 5: Data Literacy and Financial Literacy

Students collect and interpret data using graphs and charts while exploring financial decision-making and money management.
