Social Studies

The Grade 2 Social Studies course helps students understand communities, relationships, and cultural diversity. Students explore how communities function and how people work together to support society. The course encourages respect for different cultures and perspectives while helping students understand their roles as members of communities.

Unit 1: Communities and Citizenship

Students explore responsibilities and roles within families, schools, and communities.

Unit 2: Culture and Traditions

Students learn about traditions and cultural practices in Canada and around the world.

Unit 3: Environmental Awareness

Students examine how communities interact with and care for the natural environment.

Unit 4: Mapping and Spatial Skills

Students begin developing basic mapping skills and learn how maps represent places and environments.
