Families in Canada (Grade 12)

This course enables students to draw on sociological, psychological, and anthropological theories to analyze the development of individuals, intimate relationships, and family and parent-child relationships.

Unit 1: Theoretical Perspectives on Families

Students explore theories used to study families and relationships.

Unit 2: Intimate Relationships

Students examine factors influencing relationships and family formation.

Unit 3: Parenting and Child Development

Students explore parenting styles and child development.

Unit 4: Family Diversity in Canada

Students examine diverse family structures and experiences.

Unit 5: Social Issues Affecting Families

Students investigate issues that influence family life.

Unit 6: Culminating Family Studies Investigation

Students complete a final inquiry project examining family-related issues.
