This course emphasizes the consolidation of literacy, communication, and critical thinking skills necessary for success in academic and workplace environments. Students will analyze a variety of literary, informational, and graphic texts and produce a range of written and oral communication forms.

Unit 1: Reading and Responding to Texts

Students analyze literary and informational texts and develop comprehension strategies.

Unit 2: Narrative and Personal Writing

Students explore narrative techniques and produce personal and reflective writing.

Unit 3: Media Literacy and Communication

Students analyze media texts and develop digital communication skills.

Unit 4: Workplace Writing and Communication

Students develop writing skills for workplace contexts including reports and presentations.

Unit 5: Research and Information Literacy

Students conduct research and evaluate sources to develop informed arguments.

Unit 6: Culminating Literacy Project

Students complete a final project demonstrating their literacy and communication skills.
