Chemistry (Grade 11 – College Preparation)

This course focuses on the concepts and theories that form the basis of modern chemistry. Students will study properties of matter, chemical reactions and quantitative relationships, solutions and solubility, and atmospheric chemistry.

Unit 1: Properties of Matter

Students explore the structure of matter and examine physical and chemical properties.

Unit 2: Chemical Reactions

Students investigate chemical reactions and their applications.

Unit 3: Quantitative Chemistry

Students explore relationships between quantities in chemical reactions.

Unit 4: Solutions and Solubility

Students examine the behaviour of solutions and factors affecting solubility.

Unit 5: Atmospheric Chemistry

Students investigate the chemistry of the atmosphere and environmental issues.

Unit 6: Culminating Chemistry Project

Students complete a final project demonstrating their understanding of chemistry concepts.
