Career Studies (Grade 10)

This course teaches students how to develop and achieve personal goals for future learning, work, and community involvement. Students will assess their interests, skills, and characteristics and investigate current economic and workplace trends, work opportunities, and ways to search for work.

Unit 1: Self-Discovery and Personal Strengths

Students explore their interests, skills, and personal attributes.

Unit 2: Career Exploration

Students investigate career pathways and employment opportunities.

Unit 3: Workplace Skills and Expectations

Students develop workplace readiness skills including communication and teamwork.

Unit 4: Education and Training Pathways

Students explore postsecondary education and training options.

Unit 5: Job Search Strategies

Students learn techniques for preparing résumés, cover letters, and job interviews.

Unit 6: Culminating Career Portfolio

Students create a portfolio outlining their personal goals and career plans.
