Biology (Grade 11 – College Preparation)

This course focuses on the processes that occur in biological systems. Students will learn concepts and theories as they conduct investigations in the areas of cellular biology, microbiology, animal systems, and plants in the natural environment.

Unit 1: Cellular Biology

Students explore the structure and function of cells and how cells support life processes.

Unit 2: Microbiology

Students investigate microorganisms and their roles in health, disease, and the environment.

Unit 3: Animal Systems

Students examine the structure and function of major animal systems.

Unit 4: Plants and the Natural Environment

Students explore plant biology and the role of plants in ecosystems.

Unit 5: Biological Applications in Society

Students investigate practical applications of biology in agriculture, medicine, and environmental science.

Unit 6: Culminating Biological Project

Students complete a final project demonstrating their understanding of biological systems.
